The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women
Leading   Queen’s   Counsel,   wife   of   the   former   British   Prime   Minister   and   committed   campaigner   for   women’s   rights,   Cherie   set   up   the   Cherie   Blair Foundation   for   Women   in   2008   to   help   women   build   small   and   growing   businesses   in   low   and   middle   income   countries   so   that   they   can   contribute   to   their economies and have a stronger voice in their societies. Ten   years   on,   Cherie   is   tireless   in   her   efforts   to   champion   women’s   economic   empowerment,   travelling   internationally   to   visit   projects   and   speaking   about the   value   of   women’s   entrepreneurship   at   global   influencing   events.   The   Foundation   is   driven   by   a   talented   and   committed   team   and   together   they   provide women with the skills, technology, networks and access to capital that they need to become successful small and growing business owners. By   empowering   women   to   achieve   financial   and   economic   independence,   the   Cherie   Blair   Foundation   for   Women   ensures   women   entrepreneurs   gain stronger voices and have greater impact to help their families prosper, their communities thrive and economies to grow.   The   Foundation   believes   in   the   power   of   partnerships.   They   take   a   hands-on   collaborative   approach   working   with   individuals,   non-profit   organisations, corporations,    financial    institutions    and    government    bodies    to    develop    programmes    that    are    individually    tailored    to    the    diverse    needs    of    women entrepreneurs in different contexts and geographies. The   immediate   impact   of   the   Foundation’s   work   is   clear   to   see   in   the   stories   of   the   women   they   support   but   on   a   long-term   basis,   by   driving   greater equality, its legacy will most assuredly be felt by many generations to come.
